ABOUT THE SUMMIT

Join us for the ALL IN National Summit 2024: Promoting the Value of Adult Literacy. The invitation-only gathering of education leaders, researchers, policymakers, corporate partners, employers, and advocates will serve as a catalyst for promoting greater awareness and investment in adult literacy nationwide.

Participants can expect to:

  • Better understand the value (i.e., return on investment for literacy skills) from key stakeholder perspectives, including employers, policymakers, and adult learners themselves
  • Learn about breakthrough research in effective community-engaged, tech-enabled literacy instruction for adult learners
  • Co-generate a strategy for conducting wide scale adult learner market research and adapting service delivery models to better meet their needs
  • Identify their role in the adult learning ecosystem and commit to solving a part of the challenge, whether it is through policy, workplace learning, awareness-building, or funding key initiatives.

ABOUT THE ISSUE

One out of five adults in the United States struggles with foundational reading, writing, digital, and numeracy skills, and fewer than 10% of adults in need of literacy support are receiving services through public funding. Foundational adult literacy skills are clearly linked to sustained income growth, better healthcare access, improved job prospects for justice-involved and returning citizens, and stronger language and literacy skills among children. Investing time, attention, and resources in adult literacy—including digital literacy—will have a lasting impact on the country as a whole.

The shift toward skills-first hiring and training presents a powerful opportunity for cross-sector collaboration toward a more inclusive economy for all. It could create more points of access for career entry and higher earnings for millions of adult learners. Still, this collective work requires identifying and leveraging the individual strengths of each of us to collectively build capacity for more targeted literacy upskilling interventions at the local level.

ABOUT ALL IN

The Adult Literacy and Learning Impact Network (ALL IN) is a collective impact initiative formed by national thought leaders in the adult learning field and beyond. With generous support from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, ALL IN is charged with carrying out the goals of the National Action Plan for Adult Literacy (NAP), a multisector, multiyear initiative designed to drive inclusive, collective action to increase adult literacy nationwide.
